Parents and caregivers:
Use this website to find out what your child is working on and see how you can support him or her. Please contact me if you have any question or concern by making a phone appointment or emailing ([email protected] ) and we'll find a time to meet.
Essay writing and other written work done at home:
With the use of internet becoming easier each day, there is an increasing temptation of using translation programs or websites (google translation, etc.) for parts or the totality of an assignment. It is important that you know this activity does not bring out true learning and often shows poor French. A translating website and preferably a dictionary (online or not) may be used for word and expression translation, but not for translation of parts of or entire sentences or paragraphs.
On study habits:
Here are the 4 most popular tips shared by my students:
1. Read over your notes frequently.
2. Copy your notes and try your exercises again or create mini-tests for yourself and your friends.
3. Read over your notes and repeat them aloud.
4. Make summaries, cue cards (with definitions and keywords), lists and tables, mnemonics such as rhymes or verses and graphic or visual maps with key ideas. If you use one or more of these tips on top of attending class, you are definitely going to succeed!
